Our life in Cincinnati

Our life in Cincinnati

Time sure flies, and our apartment is really starting to look like a home, one decoration touch after another! Still a few projects to finish and a few things to paint, but my color pots are standing ready for the final touches! On the paperwork side, it also looks like we are finellyyy getting there! Really happy to have our Ohio driving licenses, as here it also serves as your ID… It means we no longer have to carry our passports wherever we go, and most importantly risk to lose it (it wouldn’t be the first time this would happen to one of us… Now I’m not saying Arnaud did, I’m just saying this never happened to me personally). And also, we now will be able to avoid that weird look when you provide your passport when being asked to show an ID (most of the time, people seem like they’re thinking “oh boy, this is gonna be a complicated case”). I must say that obtaining my bank card required multiple tries (as you can see in the pictures below), but yeah we finally got it! 🙂

A lot of fun things happened these last weeks, like for example a visit from our friend Jeroen for a few days, because he wasn’t far from here (well, a short 6 hours drive away) for a training camp. Just enough time to do two of our favorite things ever together: eating and running. Jeroen also insisted that we would go to the Cincinnati Zoo to pay our respects to the local celebrity Harambe. #NeverForget

I also had the great opportunity to travel with UC track and field team to the indoor Conference Championships (kind of like our Belgian interclubs but between universities) in Birmingham, Alabama. Well that was the first time I got to experience an indoor meet where it was actually way warmer outside than inside! Crazy Alabama! Our women’s team took 2nd, really close from taking the win! I’ve already taken part in a few Conference Championships as an athlete when I was at NAU, and it was a lot of fun to live this adventure from the coaches point of view and see all the tactics that lies behind putting a competitive team together!

Coming up next: it will soon be time for us to pack our bags for our three week training camp at altitude in Flagstaff, Az. Can’t wait!

Here is a selection of our latest photos to illustrate all these adventures.

Kisses to you all and don’t forget: today is a good day to have a good day!
